A distinguished group of attorneys, including Janis A Carney, has announced a new non-profit focused on preparing for Alzheimer’s and dementia, The National Alliance of Attorneys for Alzheimer’s Planning (“N3AP”). This organization is the first of its kind and aims to be a resource not only for attorneys, but also the general public. Alzheimer’s is an epidemic with no end in sight and N3AP hopes to bring awareness to the subject with their years of research, experience, and exploration into this issue.

Janis A. Carney is a founding member of N3AP. Additionally, he attended the steering committee meeting at the first national conference of N3AP.

The attorneys, from all over the United States, who attended the N3AP conference have shown true commitment to bringing awareness to Alzheimer’s and dementia, and to keeping the legal community apprised of the latest developments with these diseases. The N3AP conference featured presentations by nationally recognized authorities on issues related to Alzheimer’s planning

Client Stories: Joanne

Joanne is in her late 70s. She lives alone in the Silicon Valley area and was diagnosed with early stage Alzheimer’s disease several years ago. Her daughter, Caitlin, lives in New York and is only able to visit her mother twice each year, at most. Caitlin knows that her mother’s condition is quickly deteriorating, and she’s been feeling overwhelmed by the thought of having to make difficult end-of-life decisions on behalf of her mother, who didn’t leave specific wishes regarding her care. Caitlin is also unsure of how to best manage her mother’s financial assets and obligations.
